San Filippo-Franco Scoglio Stadium is a sports facility located in Messina and is the biggest in Sicily with 38.722 seats capacity. It hosts since 2004 the home matches of the ACR Messina.The structure was officially inaugurated on 17 August 2004 and takes its original name from the area of Messina where it is located, the Contrada San Filippo. Since 2016 it has been dedicated to the coach Franco Scoglio. Since 2016 it has been named after the coach Franco Scoglio. The peculiarity of the stadium is that it is built in trench: part of the structure is located below the natural ground level. During the summer season it is also used as a venue for important concerts.
