The municipal stadium Artemio Franchi is the main football stadium in Florence and one of the main Italian stadiums, venue of the home matches of ACF Fiorentina. Since 1991 it has been dedicated to Artemio Franchi, one of the most important Italian sports managers. The stadium is located in the district of Campo Marte and was built between 1930 and 1932. An example of Italian Rationalism, the stadium can accommodate 43.147 spectators and for this reason it is the fifth biggest Italian stadium in terms of capacity. In addition to football, the stadium has been used for other sports and for numerous concerts by illustrious artists: the first to perform in the stadium was Elton John in 1973, while later it became a stage of the most important Italian tours.
