Castello Scaligero is a fortress of medieval origin located in the town of Villafranca di Verona. It is placed on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, in the southern part of the town. In this place William Shakespeare set some scenes of the famous drama Romeo and Juliet. Since 1995 the Castello Scaligero has become a venue for important musical events, fairs, shows and historical reconstructions. In 1998 it hosted Nobel Prize-winning singer-songwriter Bob Dylan and in 2000 Coldplay performed their first Italian concert. Over the years, national artists such as Cesare Cremonini, Subsonica and international artists such as Ben Harper, Deep Purple and Artic Monkeys have performed on the stage of Castello Scaligero.
