Piazza Sordello is a large square located in Mantua and dedicated to the Mantuan poet of the thirteenth century, Sordello da Goito. The square was built in 1330 and for several centuries has been the center of political, social and religious life in Mantua. It is an exceptional location for its historical importance and its artistic beauty thanks to the presence of Palazzo Ducale, Palazzo Bonacolsi and Ca' degli Uberti, and it is dominated by the majestic Torre della Gabbia. Today it is also a venue for concerts by great Italian and international artists such as Placebo.
